Mandelic acid is a white, rhombic, flaky crystal. Its melting point is 119℃. It is readily soluble in hot water, and isopropanol. Prolonged exposure will cause discoloration and decomposition. It is used in organic synthesis and is a specific reagent for the determination of zirconium.
Gentle Exfoliation: As a high molecular weight fruit acid (AHA), it has strong lipophilicity and a slower penetration rate than glycolic acid, thus causing less skin irritation and making it suitable for sensitive skin.
Antibacterial and Acne-Fighting: With a chemical structure similar to antibiotics, it can inhibit the proliferation of bacteria such as Propionibacterium acnes, improve blockage of the hair follicle sebaceous gland duct, and is effective in treating acne and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation.
Whitening and Anti-Aging: It helps accelerate pigment metabolism, lighten dark spots, and has a certain effect in delaying skin aging.
