Deoxynojirimycin (DNJ) is an alkaloid extracted from plants of the Moraceae family. It possesses pharmacological properties that inhibit α-glucosidase activity. This component effectively delays intestinal glucose absorption by blocking the breakdown of carbohydrates into monosaccharides, thereby achieving a clinical effect of lowering postprandial blood glucose.

1-Deoxynojirimycin is a potent competitive inhibitor of α-glucosidase. Its structure is similar to glucose, and it reversibly binds to the active site of α-glucosidase in the intestine, thereby blocking the enzyme's breakdown of complex carbohydrates (such as disaccharides and oligosaccharides) into absorbable monosaccharides. This effect significantly slows down the digestion and absorption of carbohydrates after meals, effectively mitigating the rapid rise in postprandial blood glucose and reducing the immediate burden on insulin secretion.
It also regulates glucose and lipid metabolism. By slowing glucose absorption, it improves insulin sensitivity and reduces the sustained stimulation of pancreatic β-cells by hyperglycemia. Studies have shown that it can also inhibit the activity of hepatic gluconeogenesis-related enzymes, reducing endogenous glucose production. Long-term intervention helps improve lipid metabolism abnormalities caused by hyperglycemia, such as lowering serum triglyceride levels.
Potential antiviral and immunomodulatory effects: 1-Deoxynojirimycin can inhibit endoplasmic reticulum α-glucosidase I and II, interfering with the folding and processing of viral glycoproteins, thereby potentially inhibiting the replication of certain enveloped viruses (such as HIV, hepatitis C virus, and dengue virus).
Blood Glucose Management and Diabetes Adjunctive Intervention: As a dietary supplement or functional food ingredient, it is widely used for blood glucose management in patients with type 2 diabetes and prediabetes, helping to reduce postprandial blood glucose spikes. It is often combined with other blood glucose-regulating ingredients such as chromium and bitter melon extract to achieve synergistic effects. In certain countries and regions, high-purity extracts have been developed into prescription or over-the-counter drugs for diabetes treatment.
Weight Control and Health Foods: Used in weight management products, it increases satiety by delaying carbohydrate absorption, reducing total energy intake, and may promote body fat metabolism. As a functional ingredient, it is added to beverages, noodles, biscuits, and other foods to develop "low glycemic index" health foods suitable for people with abnormal glucose metabolism.
Research and Pharmaceutical Development:In biomedical research, it is used as a tool to study glycoprotein processing, glucose metabolism, and related signaling pathways. Based on its antiviral mechanism, research is underway to develop drugs or adjunctive therapies for viral diseases (such as HIV infection and influenza). In animal husbandry, research is exploring its use as a feed additive to improve animal growth performance and metabolic health.

For some products that require special packaging during transportation, we will carry out more delicate packaging. For example, retinal needs to be stored at -20 °C, so we choose cold chain transportation during transportation; deoxyarbutin will change color during transportation, so we will Vacuum packing of deoxyarbutin
