Betulin is a lupane-type pentacyclic triterpenoid composed of six isoprenoids. It is a white crystalline powder. It was first reported and isolated from birch bark in 1788.
Betulin is soluble in ethanol, chloroform, and benzene, and slightly soluble in organic solvents such as cold water and petroleum. It is extracted from birch bark. Betulin exhibits anti-inflammatory and antiviral properties, inhibits protein dissolution in hair fibers, improves the luster of damaged hair, and promotes hair growth. It has applications in the food, cosmetics, and pharmaceutical industries.
![]()
1. Inhibition of Melanin Formation
Butulinol can be used as a natural, safe, and side-effect-free traditional Chinese medicine phytoestrogen to reduce hyperpigmentation of the skin.
2. Hypolipidemic Effects
Butulinol has a promising pharmacological effect in combating hyperlipidemia, lowering both blood cholesterol and triglycerides.
3. Hepatoprotective Effects
Butulinol inhibits alcohol-induced lipid peroxidation-induced liver damage and has a promising therapeutic effect on alcoholic liver injury.
4. Anticancer and Antitumor Effects
Butulinol has been shown to inhibit the growth of several cancer cell types, including RCC4, DLD-1, PC-3, HeLa, A549, and MCF-7 cells, as well as cervical cancer cell lines.
5. Anti-inflammatory and Antioxidant Activity
Both betulinol and betulic acid exhibit mild anti-inflammatory properties at higher concentrations, and their anti-inflammatory properties may be due to their inhibition of protein kinase C, rather than any neurogenic inflammatory mechanisms.
6. Anti-HIV
Betulin, a major component of birch bark, can be used to derive a potent anti-HIV drug and is a valuable medicinal resource.
7. Protects Hippocampal Neurons
Betulin can improve depressive behavior in rats induced by chronic stress and depression and has a protective effect on hippocampal neurons.
Pharmaceutical industry: Betulin is mainly used as a pharmaceutical intermediate. Betulin and its derivatives have shown great potential as biological agents in the treatment of HIV and cancer. They are also used to relieve cough and expectorate, treat allergic rhinitis, insomnia, depression, etc.
Food industry: Some studies have used it as a preservative for meat products
Cosmetics industry: Betulin's inhibition of collagenase activity and its effect on the proliferation of skin cells indicate that it has a strong anti-aging effect and can be used to condition the skin, smooth the skin, and prevent chapped skin. It is also a good topical penetration enhancer.![]()

Our packing method is 1KG/Aluminium bags, 25kg/drum
For some products that require special packaging during transportation, we will carry out more delicate packaging. For example, retinal needs to be stored at -20 °C, so we choose cold chain transportation during transportation; deoxyarbutin will change color during transportation, so we will Vacuum packing of deoxyarbutin
