What is N-Acetylglucosamine Powder?      

N-acetylglucosamine is the basic building block of chitin in the exoskeleton of crustaceans. It is a white powder at room temperature and is primarily produced by fermenting glucose and corn steep liquor powder with Corynebacterium glutamicum RDG-2110. It exhibits anti-inflammatory, anti-tumor, and antioxidant properties and is clinically used to treat osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis. It can enhance the immune system, inhibit cancer cell growth, and provide adjuvant therapy for cancer and malignant tumors. It is also used as a food antioxidant, an infant food additive, and a sweetener for diabetics.

In vivo, N-acetylglucosamine is synthesized from fructose-6-phosphate and glutamine. It serves as an important precursor for the synthesis of bifidobacterial factors and is ultimately converted into uridine diphosphate-N-acetylglucosamine, which participates in the synthesis of glycosaminoglycans and proteoglycans.
