Raffinose Powder

What is Raffinose Powder?

Raffinose is one of the most well-known trisaccharides in nature, composed of galactose, fructose, and glucose. Also known as raffinose or honey trisaccharide, it is a functional oligosaccharide with a strong ability to promote the growth of bifidobacteria.

Raffinose is widely found in plants in nature. It is present in varying amounts in many vegetables (cabbage, cauliflower, potato, beet, onion, etc.), fruits (grapes, bananas, kiwifruit, etc.), grains (wheat, rice, oats, etc.), and the kernels of some oil crops (soybeans, sunflower seeds, cottonseed, peanuts, etc.); cottonseed kernels contain 4-5% raffinose. Raffinose is also one of the main active ingredients in soybean oligosaccharides, a well-known functional oligosaccharide.

Factory Pure Natural 90%94%98% Raffinose Powder Raffinose Pentahydrate High Purity Raffinose Free Samples 0

Feature

Prebiotics and Gut Health Regulation: Raffinose is not broken down by human digestive enzymes and can directly reach the colon, where it is selectively utilized by beneficial bacteria such as Bifidobacteria, promoting their proliferation and inhibiting the growth of harmful bacteria. The short-chain fatty acids (such as butyric acid) produced during its fermentation nourish colonic epithelial cells, enhancing intestinal barrier function.

Low Calories and Glycemic Regulation: Raffinose has only one-third the calories of sucrose and does not affect blood sugar and insulin levels, making it suitable for diabetics and those managing their weight. Its slow fermentation characteristics prolong satiety and reduce total energy intake.

Anti-Caries and Oral Health: Oral microorganisms cannot effectively metabolize raffinose, therefore it does not produce acid that erodes tooth enamel, making it a functional sweetener for preventing tooth decay.

Moisture Retention and Freeze-Cure Protection: Raffinose has strong water-holding capacity, preventing food from drying out and aging; its cryoprotective properties reduce ice crystal formation and protect cell structural integrity.

Applications

Prebiotic Functional Foods and Health Products: As a core prebiotic, it is added to yogurt, beverages, and infant formula to improve gut microbiota balance. It is also used as a dietary supplement to regulate intestinal problems such as constipation and diarrhea.

Low-Sugar, Low-Calorie Food Development: It partially replaces sucrose in diabetic foods, sports nutrition products, and weight-loss meal replacements, reducing calories while maintaining a moderate sweetness. It is used in baked goods to delay starch retrogradation and improve moisture retention.

Biotechnology and Pharmaceuticals: As a cell cryopreservation protectant, it is used for the cryopreservation of vaccines, stem cells, and other biological agents, reducing ice crystal damage. In pharmaceutical preparations, it is used as a stabilizer or flavor masking agent to improve taste.

Feed and Agricultural Applications: As a feed additive, it improves the gut health of livestock and poultry, increases feed utilization, and reduces antibiotic dependence. In plant stress resistance studies, its potential to enhance crop drought and cold resistance is being investigated.

Package & Storage
Our packing method is 1KG/Aluminium bags, 25kg/drum

For some products that require special packaging during transportation, we will carry out more delicate packaging. For example, retinal needs to be stored at -20 °C, so we choose cold chain transportation during transportation; deoxyarbutin will change color during transportation, so we will Vacuum packing of deoxyarbutin
