 Chitosan Oligosaccharide Powder

What is Chitosan Oligosaccharide Powder?

Chitosan oligosaccharides, also known as chitosan oligosaccharides or chitosan oligomers, are oligosaccharide products with a degree of polymerization between 2 and 20, obtained by degrading chitosan using special bio-enzymatic techniques (there are also reports of using chemical degradation and microwave degradation techniques). They have a molecular weight ≤3200 Da and are low molecular weight products with good water solubility, significant functional effects, and high bioactivity. They possess many unique functions not found in chitosan, such as high solubility (completely soluble in water) and easy absorption and utilization by organisms; their effects are 14 times that of chitosan.

Chitosan oligosaccharides are the only naturally occurring positively charged cationic basic amino oligosaccharides and are derived from animal cellulose. They are small-molecule oligosaccharides with amino groups, formed by the degradation of chitosan derived from shrimp and crab shells, and consist of sugar chains with a degree of polymerization of 2 to 20.

Feature

Regulating Gut Microbiota

Chitosan oligosaccharides are an important type of bifidobacteria (BF). They can regulate the metabolic activities of intestinal microorganisms, improve the distribution of the intestinal microbiota, promote the growth and reproduction of bifidobacteria, thereby enhancing the body's immunity, lowering the intestinal pH, inhibiting the growth of harmful intestinal bacteria, producing B vitamins, decomposing carcinogens, promoting intestinal peristalsis, and improving protein absorption.

Improving Intestinal Tissue Morphology

Enhancing Animal Production Performance: Chitosan oligosaccharides increase the density of ileal microvilli, which tend to become thinner and taller. Increased microvilli height and density increase the absorption surface area of the small intestine, promoting nutrient absorption and improving feed utilization.

Enhancing Immune Function

The immune-enhancing effects of chitosan oligosaccharides have been confirmed by many scholars. Their anti-infective mechanisms can be explained in several ways: chitosan oligosaccharides stimulate the body, increasing the number of cells in peritoneal exudate, activating macrophages, thereby increasing the generation of reactive oxygen species (ROS), and then exerting their bactericidal effect through an oxidative mechanism; the direct activation of macrophages by chitosan oligosaccharides increases their cytotoxic activity; chitosan oligosaccharides activate T lymphocytes, exhibiting cytotoxic activity, and sensitized T cells induce delayed-type hypersensitivity reactions; chitosan oligosaccharides activate T lymphocytes, thereby promoting the release of macrophage activating factor (MAF), which in turn activates macrophages. During the activation process, macrophages are directly activated by chitosan oligosaccharides, which further enhances their sensitivity to MAF, leading to further activation. Therefore, it is believed that the cytotoxic activity of chitosan oligosaccharides is mainly a result of the enhanced interaction between activated T lymphocytes and macrophages.

Applications

In the agricultural field, chitosan oligosaccharides alter soil microbiota, promoting the growth of beneficial microorganisms. They can also induce plant disease resistance, producing immunity and killing effects against various fungi, bacteria, and viruses. They have good control effects against diseases such as wheat mosaic virus, cotton verticillium wilt, rice blast, and tomato late blight, and can be developed into biopesticides, growth regulators, and fertilizers.

In the daily chemical industry, chitosan oligosaccharides have significant moisturizing, cell-activating, skin-reducing, and anti-aging effects, as well as inhibiting the growth of harmful bacteria on the skin surface, antibacterial and anti-skin disease properties, and ultraviolet radiation absorption. They can be used in moisturizing, anti-wrinkle, and sunscreen products. Chitosan oligosaccharides also maintain the film-forming permeability of hair, making it moist and easy to comb, and have anti-static, dust-repellent, anti-itch, and dandruff-removing properties, making them suitable for hair care products.

In the feed additive industry, chitosan oligosaccharides are non-toxic, pyrogen-free, and non-mutagenic. They regulate the metabolic activity of intestinal microorganisms in animals, selectively activating and proliferating beneficial bacteria, lowering cholesterol and blood lipid levels, and improving immunity and lean meat percentage. As a feed additive, chitosan oligosaccharides are highly effective in improving the immunity, disease resistance, and growth promotion of livestock, poultry, and aquatic animals (fish, shrimp, shellfish, sea cucumber).

In the food industry, it acts as an activator of beneficial gut bacteria (such as Bifidobacteria), enhancing the absorption of calcium and minerals. It also serves as a natural preservative, replacing chemical preservatives like sodium benzoate. It is used in functional beverages for weight loss, detoxification, and immune regulation. Furthermore, it can be used for coating preservation; the coating is permeable, water-resistant, and possesses antibacterial and preservative properties.

Package & Storage
Our packing method is 1KG/Aluminium bags, 25kg/drum

For some products that require special packaging during transportation, we will carry out more delicate packaging. For example, retinal needs to be stored at -20 °C, so we choose cold chain transportation during transportation; deoxyarbutin will change color during transportation, so we will Vacuum packing of deoxyarbutin
